About Us

Overview

The Sri Lankan Muslim Cultural Centre (SLMCC) was formed in the year 2000 by the Sri Lankan Muslim community residing in the United Kingdom. It is one of the most recognized cultural and religious centre in the city of Harrow, North West London. SLMCC is a registered charity in England and Wales, Charity registration number 1164657.

The backbone of SLMCC is our mosque known as Masjid-un-Noor which has been a key pillar in the community ever since its humble beginnings in 2002. The mosque is hospitable to all those that walk through its doors providing them with a place of prayer, learning and communal support.

Throughout the years, we’ve seen our mosque develop to become a truly lively and spirited Mosque, seeking to encapsulate the very ideals on which it now thrives. We now serve thousands of congregants throughout the week by providing a variety of services including the five daily prayers, Quranic/Arabic classes for children and adults, a youth club, regular sports activities, regular lessons in the Islamic sciences, lectures by esteemed guest scholars, as well as seasonal conferences.

To accommodate the increasing need of the community, SLMCC completed the purchase of an additional building in 2020 to its portfolio for the purposes of providing Islamic higher education.

Our Vision

SLMCC’s vision is for it to be at the heart of the community promoting deeper understanding and knowledge about Islam and what it means to be a practising and responsible Muslim in the UK.
