Covid-19 Harrow Support

The Covid-19 Pandemic has spread across the globe with devastating consequences on social and economic level and has left a lot of people worried and in a state of panic.

The government has imposed the lockdown for the last few weeks and this has made it difficult for a lot of people, especially the elderly and vulnerable to get even the basic necessities.

With that in mind and to help ease the pressure on the local social services. We at SLMCC along with 8 other partnering organisations formed the Harrow Covid- 19 Support Group whereby we have been providing various support to the elderly, vulnerable as well as key workers.

He are some of the things we have been doing in our community.

FOOD BANK SUPPORT

Our brave and self less volunteer’s have been assisting at Harrow Foodbank who have been struggling with volunteers on Wednesday’s and Friday’s. The Harrow Foodbank are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.

NHS SUPPORT

We delivered 100 dry food & fruits pack to the NHS staff at Northwick Park Hospital.

Several volunteers helped us in organising, purchasing and delivering the items.

We will continue to provide our support our key workers by giving them the time to focus on pandemic at hand.

DISTRIBUTION HUB

In partnership with Harrow Council, SLMCC was appointed as one of three HUB’s that will be distributing food pack’s for the requests that come through the council.

Since being appointed a HUB, a total of 285 packs have been distributed to the needy and vulnerable across harrow borough.

INDIVIDUAL REQUESTS

We have received and carried out a total of 70 individual requests from the elderly and vulnerable with tasks ranging from ‘shop and deliver’ to ‘picking up prescriptions’.

HOME OXYGEN MONITORING SERVICE (HOMS)

In partnership with Hujjat, HCM and SICM, we are providing oxygen monitoring devices for free on a loan basis to those with COVID-19 symptoms and at risk. These devices allow you to monitor your oxygen level at home to manage the illness better. Over 10 devices have been provided in the last week through SLMCC. See Hujjat.org/health for more info.

If you or you know anyone who will require any of our services, please do get in touch and we will try our best to help.
